Celestine and Calcite

Celestine is rare from Afghanistan and this showy large specimen is from a recent find at this most obscure locale. An impressive, 4.9 cm, bi-colored celestine crystal dominates this sculptural piece and is nicely placed in the front. A striking, colorless, glassy, transparent to translucent chisel termination sits atop the rich ice-blue translucent body. The left side of the termination is lightly bruised and is certainly only a modest detraction. The crystal is nicely accented by a small 1.1 cm complete crystal on the right side and surrounded by sections of other crystals. A pristine 2.4 cm celestine is on the back. Vuggy faces of the 3-dimensional matrix are lined with tiny dogtooth calcite crystals. Highly representative and rare large celectine with calcite from Afghanistan, from 2022-23 finds.
