Item Description
This piece came with an older label that said it was from Chihuahua along with a dealer's label that said it was from Coahuila, but I'm inclined to believe it's from Chihuahua, very possibly from the Mojina Mine. A pair of very good sized, thick, blocky prisms of medium blue to soft greenish-blue colored Celestine are diverging to create a wonderfully eye-catching and showy display specimen. These crystals are well-formed with smooth faces and a pair of attractive "chisel"-shaped terminations. When backlit, you can see they are rather translucent with good internal color. The piece has only a small amount of matrix attached on the back, but the crystals are not complete around the base / back of the specimen as they show separation marks where they were removed from the pocket wall. These are still larger than average crystals for the locality and would make a nice addition to any suite of Mexican minerals or assorted worldwide sulfates.
