Item Description
Sakoany celestines are considered to be amongst the finest in the world and the fine article in the recent issue of the Mineralogical Record confirms this lofty status. The highly angled, sculptural vug in CABINET matrix is totally lined with gemmy and lustrous, light steel-blue, celestine crystals with classic chisel terminations. They almost look like topaz crystals. The obvious focal point of this striking piece is the 6.0 cm monolith. Modest bruising, mostly on the back of the large crystal termination is noted, as is a bit of periphery wear elsewhere, which is sad but the piece is still visually impressive and you do not see the damage on back as it sits. This piece is a classic, highly representative and showy example of the species and locality. Valued $500-700
