Item Description
A very attractive and wonderfully eye-catching association piece featuring many sharp, tabular, soft powder blue colored crystals of gemmy to translucent Celestine measuring up to 5.2 cm, on minor matrix. The main crystal is actually doubly-terminated and the piece has been sawn in a way that it stands up beautifully on its own without a base or clay, putting the big crystal at the top of the specimen. The overall quality is good, and I would have to say that it's superior to many others I have seen for size and appeal.
From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds (#RR0722). Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
