Item Description
A beautiful and sculptural cave Calcite specimen from Santa Eulalia featuring branching groups that comprise two generations of Calcite growth. The central / inner portion of the piece is the first generation and is a soft chalky white hue with a gentle vitreous luster, but still has distinct crystal forms, while the second generation features much gemmier and more lustrous Calcite scalenohedra, some of which have formed attractive "scepter-esque" terminations, almost resembling little mushrooms. The largest individual crystal measures approximately 2.0 cm. The piece is rather arborescent in form and looks beautiful from several angles. There is no major damage that I can see with the naked eye. If you collect worldwide Calcites or minerals of Mexico, these now hard to find cave Calcites are a must have for their elegant visceral beauty and attractive generational growth. Priced at $950 in the inventory.
