Cavansite with Stilbite (ex Angela Kosnar Collection)

Cavansite has the distinction of being one of those minerals that is really only associated with a single locality, even though it has been found in other places in the world. This beautiful species is beloved by collectors and dealers due to the fact that it has one of the most distinctive colors in the mineral world. There might be a fair number of them on the market now, but you won't see them forever, and there doesn't seem to be as many good ones coming out of the ground as there used to be. Rumors keep swirling as to whether Wagholi is completely flooded and unminable, or if the quarry is being filled in to make room for the ever growing housing market in Pune, but eventually one day there will be no more Cavansite on the market. This piece hosts a gorgeous cluster of radial "sprays" of glowing intense blue Cavansite associated with robust white bladed groups of Stilbite on tiny sparkling beige Heulandite on basalt matrix. The entire Cavansite aggregate measures 1.3 cm across. No real damage that I can see (there are a few contacts around the matrix).
