Cavansite on Stilbite (superb miniature with large xls)

Here is an excellent cluster of deepest teal-blue Cavansite on a matrix of finely crystalline, sparkly Calcite. This miniature is a wonderful example of the excellent contrast and quality produced from the finds in India. It features an elongate cluster of gorgeous blue Cavansite that measures 4.3 cm long and 3 cm wide, hosting a sheaf of large Cavansite crystals on one side with the largest bladed crystal measuring an amazing 2 cm in length! The Cavansite cluster is set amongst a hummocky surface of off-white, drusy Calcite crystals along with a single, white, 1 cm Stilbite crystal. Discovered in 1967 in Oregon, Cavansite is a relatively rare mineral that has since been recovered in fairly large volumes from the Deccan Traps in India, which have provided, by far, the finest specimens of the species. Despite the large amount of the finds since the 1990s, truly great specimens like this remain uncommon among the mediocrity. For the large crystals, large field of blue impact, we value this at $2500-3500.
