Cavansite and Stilbite (old style, 1990s)

First discovered at Owyhee Dam in Oregon in the middle of the last century, Cavansite became a worldwide phenomena with the amazing discoveries in the Deccan Traps in the 1990's. The beautiful sprays of Cavansite on the excellent small cabinet piece reach 1.2 cm across, and the vibrant blue color is outstanding for the species. The Cavansites are nestled among many classic, doubly-terminated Stilbites that are sharp and have a beautiful, pearlescent luster. There may be many Cavansite specimens out there, but the aesthetics and quality of this combination would rank it favorably. This is an OLD STYLE, immediately obvious from the color and balance of the species. It has a special beauty hard to convey in writing, that to my eye makes it better than modern material. From the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
