Cavansite and Stilbite (old style)

Item Description

Two "balls" of unique brilliant blue cavansite crystals, to 1.7 cm; and a 1.1 cm spray of cavansite blades are aesthetically set on the very 3-dimensional basalt matrix covered with two generations of stilbite crystals. This is classic and showy older cavansite and stilbite from 1990s-2000s finds at the famous Wagholi Quarries. Pearlescent large, white stilbite blades, to 2.8 cm, from these earlier finds are a classic accessory and where more common then. The basalt matrix is totally covered with spherical aggregates of an earlier generation of tiny sparkly, gemmy, creamy stilbite blades. A very fine and sculptural older combination of the species and well-known locale. Long in the Vasco Trancoso Collection (Lisbon, Portugal).
