Item Description

There are a handful of minerals out there which are essentially tied to a single world locality. It's safe to say that Cavansite is one of those minerals, even though it's found in other places in the world. Despite the fact that many pieces of Cavansite have been found at Wagholi over the years, it's still a rare minerals. The species is beloved by collectors and dealers alike due to the fact that it has one of the most distinctive colors in the mineral world. There might be a fair number of them on the market now, but you won't see them forever. Rumors keep swirling as to whether Wagholi is completely flooded and can no longer be mined, or if the quarry is being filled in to make room for the ever growing housing market in Pune, but eventually one day there will be no more Cavansite specimens from this underrated locality. This piece hosts a gorgeous radial "spray" of glowing intense blue Cavansite sitting atop gemmy, grey colored Heulandite on basalt matrix. The Cavansite aggregate measures 1.1 cm across. No real damage that I can see, and this is older material, dating back to the early 2000s.
