Catapleite is generally considered to be second in renown, only to Serandite of the numerous rare and common species from this exotic alkaline deposit. A rare hydrated Na-Zr silicate, it is very rare world-wide, but was relatively common at Mont Saint-Hilaire. Lustrous tan parallel-growth pseudohexagonal plates form outstanding and aesthetic 360-degree specimen from the Charlie Key Collection. Tiny aegerine needles are a nice accent and typical accessory.
