Item Description

An exceptional two-sided Catapleite thumbnail from the famous Poudrette Quarry. Catapleite is generally considered to be second in renown, only to Serandite of the numerous rare and common species from this exotic alkaline deposit. A rare hydrated Na-Zr silicate, it is very rare world-wide, but was relatively common at Mont Saint-Hilaire. Lustrous tan parallel-growth pseudohexagonal plates form outstanding and aesthetic 360-degree specimen from the Charlie Key Collection. Tiny aegerine needles are a nice accent and typical accessory. Seldom on the market in this quality. Valued at $750. A Holy Grail species from this renowned locale.
