Item Description

This superb matrix Catapleiite consists of a very large, transparent, colorless to pale straw-yellow, 3 x 2.9 x 0.2cm single crystal with numerous, smaller ones in parallel growth. This exceptional, pseudohexagonal, tabular, window-pane crystal of Catapleiite is unusually large and well-formed with sharp, beveled edges complete all around save one edge that was contacted with another crystal in the pocket. Catapleiite is a rare hydrated sodium-zirconium silicate and this large and unique matrix piece was from a pocket containing the best crystals of the species to date. Small crystals of Catapleiite attached and in association along with a tan crust of fine-grained Siderite (?). Sits perfectly for display! valued $2500
