Catapleiite (ex Matioli)

Item Description

This piece comes with three labels, one of which state that it's from Aroya, and another from A. L. Kidwell that says or Arosjar, but the label from Matioli says it's from Laven. I'm not a Norwegian mineral expert, but based upon the photos I've seen of other specimens, I'm going to label it from Laven, which is the type locality for the species. It features typical brownish-tan platy pseudohexagonal crystals of Catapleiite associated with what the label says is black Annite, but it's not reported from Laven according to the literature. The matrix is white Microcline. A good reference specimen of this well known sodium zirconium silicate.
