Item Description
This piece is an early example from the Yaogangxian Mine (the label only refers to it as coming from "Southern Hunan Prov.") featuring sharp, lustrous, jet-black clusters of Cassiterite which are sitting atop golden, translucent, layered hexagonal crystal groups of Muscovite that are covering a prismatic Ferberite crystal and associated with sharp, well-formed, white / colorless hexagonal prisms of Quartz measuring up to 4.3 cm long. The piece is very three-dimensional and looks wonderful from several angels. For the most part, there is very little damage, only a few imperfections here and there. You just don't see many of these pieces on the market anymore, and if you're a fan of association specimens or if you have a suite of Yaogangxian Mine material, be sure to pick this one up. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11435). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
