Cassiterite with Quartz, Muscovite and Ferberite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

This piece is an early example from the Yaogangxian Mine (the label only refers to it as coming from "Southern Hunan Prov.") featuring sharp, lustrous, jet-black clusters of Cassiterite which are sitting atop golden, translucent, layered hexagonal crystal groups of Muscovite that are covering a prismatic Ferberite crystal and associated with sharp, well-formed, white / colorless hexagonal prisms of Quartz measuring up to 4.3 cm long. The piece is very three-dimensional and looks wonderful from several angels. For the most part, there is very little damage, only a few imperfections here and there. You just don't see many of these pieces on the market anymore, and if you're a fan of association specimens or if you have a suite of Yaogangxian Mine material, be sure to pick this one up.
