Item Description

Cassiterites from Huanuni are not easy to obtain. The mine at Huanuni is one of the largest tin mines in Bolivia and is a real sight to see. It's actually the single richest Cassiterite deposit in the world! This mine is better known for its phosphate species, but some of the more unique and attractive Cassiterite specimens are found there. This specimen comprises fine quality, sharp, lustrous, black cylcic twinned crystals of rich golden-brown to black Cassiterite measuring up to 5 mm across with associated Quartz on the back. A little bit of damage, but overall in good shape. These are hard to find on the market now as nearly everything that come out of Huanuni ends up in the crusher and specimens are rarely available. From the collection of Helen and Raul Madrid
