Item Description

Most people think of the vast tin deposits when it comes to Bolivia, and Cassiterite is certainly one of the signature species from this well-known mineral producing nation. The great tin mines at Viloco (sometimes called Araca) have produced some of the most magnificent Cassiterite specimens extant. This particular specimen hosts many fine quality, sharp, lustrous, black color cyclic twinned crystals associated with prismatic gemmy Quartz crystals matrix. The luster and color of the Cassiterites are excellent! The largest crystal measures 7 mm. Most of the crystals are opaque, but there are some small areas here and there that show flashes of a golden honey color when backlit. Most of the crystals are in great shape, but please know that there are some contacted areas, so the piece is not completely damage free. Great material, and very hard to find on the market these days. Valued at $950. Classic material and overall a very showy and good quality specimen of this classic material.
