Item Description

Cassiterites from Huanuni are not easy to obtain. The mine at Huanuni is one of the largest tin mines in Bolivia and is a real sight to see. This mine is better known for its phosphate species, but some of the more unique and attractive Cassiterite specimens are found there. This specimen comprises several fine quality, sharp, lustrous, black prismatic tetragonal crystals measuring up to 1.2 m with beautiful translucent prisms of Quartz. We obtained this piece a around the year 2000, and it is one of the better smaller pieces from that we;ve had to offer from Huanuni. The tiny crystals are actually GEMMY, which is incredibly rare for Bolivia, as Viloco is typically the only mine to produce gem quality crystals. Don't miss out on this attractive and hard to find specimen.
