Item Description
A very colorful and showy miniature of banded, botryoidal, "wood tin" cassiterite from an UNCOMMON Mexico locality, Santa Maria del Oro. The color banding and form on this cutie is noteworthty. Wood tin is an old-time English term for cassiterite in this banded form and color. Probably from San Luis Potosi, but could be from Durango State. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6973 and acquired from Sol Shale in1973. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
