Item Description

A classic, fine and sculptural miniature of a composite nodule of variably orange-brown, tapered, botryoidal, "wood tin" cassiterite from an uncommon Mexican locality, Santa Maria del Oro. Wood tin is an old-time English term for cassiterite in this form and color. This rare piece has a fantastic shape, looking like clustered ice-cream cones or tapered seed pods, depending on which side you look at. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only trivial bruising on the back. Superb material for this locality, form and variety. Ex Consie Prince and Dave Stoudt Collections.
