Item Description

An old-time RARE nugget of alluvial (river worn) cassiterite "stream tin" from the Kay Robertson Collection # 892 and acquired from the Bradley's in the late 1950s. MINDAT does not list a Santa Catalina Mountains in Baja California, Mexico nor does MINDAT list cassiterite from that State. If from Mexico, the piece is likely from San Luis Potosi, Durango or Zacatecas States. Another possibility is the famous old silver mines at Colquechaca, Potosi Department, Bolivia. Irregardless, this is a fine thumbnail example of this rare variety of tin from the New World.
