Cassiterite (twins) on Albite

Cassiterite as a species is typically not what comes to mind when one thinks of pegmatites. The Linopolis area in Brazil has produced some outstanding pegmatite Cassiterites over the years, and this piece certainly falls into that category. It features several sharp, very distinct, lustrous, jet-black, dramatic, interpenetrant cyclic twins which are set atop a matrix of white bladed crystals of Albite (var: "Cleavelandite"). The Cassiterites are essentially damage free on the display side and measure up to 8 mm. A lovely display specimen and a hard to find matrix piece of this well known material.
