Cassiterite (twins) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Dozens of very highly lustrous, rich root beer to black colored twinned Cassiterite crystals with gorgeous flashes of reddish-brown under bright light measuring up to 4 mm cover the display side of this attractive miniature specimen. Good shape overall, with only a few superficial nicks here and there. Cassiterites from this classic locality are not easily to find on the market, and this is not from contemporary mining, but dates back many decades. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#14080). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
