Item Description

Brilliant jet-black, cyclically-twinned small cabinet cassiterite crystal from famed Mount Xuebaoding. The classic, shapely, highly lustrous crystal is nicely complemented and contrasted with pearlescent muscovite plates and smaller cassiterites at the base. Bright light reveals scattered areas pretty brown translucence on the top. The front and top are in great shape, with just a bit of contacting. The right end is gently bruised and the left end is lightly bruised. Contacting on the back is out-of-sight. See the 2005 Mineralogical Record article in China-I Special Issue, Vol. 36, No. 1. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 14353CL and acquired in 2000, when these were first coming to market. A highly representative single cassiterite crystal from the locale, noted for world-classic Scheelite and outstanding Aquamarine specimens.
