Item Description

RARE and remarkable mounded small cabinet solid crystallized cassiterite from Malaysia. Sharp, highly lustrous, bi-colored crystals, to 1.4 cm (crystal on top), are strikingly stacked on the 360-degree specimen. The lighter honey-brown crystal sections are partially translucent, adding real pizzazz. Bruising and contacting have minimal impact to the overall high quality of this exotic cassiterite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2445 and acquired from in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017).
