Item Description
This area features a handful of mines which worked various skarns over a 3 km area, and specimens are nearly impossible to find on the market. This is the only specimen of Cassiterite that we've seen from Berggießhübel (Berggiesshübel) featuring sharp, well-formed, lustrous, richly colored cyclic twins of Cassiterite measuring up to 5 mm on host rocks matrix. The Cassiterites are mostly black, but if you backlight them, you will see rich golden, amber and root beer hues. If you collect Cassiterites or German minerals, don't miss outo n this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4426). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
