Cassiterite (RARE locale) Matioli Coll.

Item Description

Cassiterite specimens are VERY RARE from Cerro Tazna from any of the four mines listed by MINDAT. MINDAT does not list the species for the Constancia Mine. That being said, scintillating jet-black twinned cassiterite crystals, to about 9 mm, are festooned on the large matrix. Many of the crystals have golden-brown translucence under bright light. The noted bruising is certainly only a modest detraction to this very rare and rich large example of the species. The piece displays welll without aid. Ex Matioli Collection.
