Item Description

This is a good quality small cabinet display specimen of rarely seen Cassiterite ON Quartz from Schlaggenwald. This piece features jet-black, highly lustrous, very well-formed, sharp twinned crystals of Cassiterite measuring up to 1.1 cm which are perched on a thick, smoky Quartz crystal with iron staining to create a beautiful multi-tone effect. One does not find many Cassiterites on Quartz like this from this CLASSIC tin producing region in Bohemia. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10956). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
