Item Description

I've seen very few specimens of Cassiterite from the Tenkergin Mine in Russia, and this piece is arguably the best one that we've had to offer in the auctions. It features razor sharp, well-formed, very lustrous, textbook cyclic twinned crystals that might appear to be black on the exterior, but the largest actually shows a bit of a rich golden-brown hue when backlit. The largest Cassiterite meaures 9 mm and is completely undamaged. The matrix is a thin layer of crystallized golden Muscovite. Great quality for any collector of Cassiterite or Russian minerals! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12683). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
