Item Description
Found in August of 2010. Bolivia has probably produced more tin than any other country in the world. The great tin mines at Viloco (sometimes called Araca) have produced some of the most magnificent Cassiterite specimens extant. This particular specimen hosts several fine, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, (brown to honey color when backlit) cyclic twinned crystals of Cassiterite free of matrix. The largest twin measures 2.5 cm. This is a very attractive piece and one of the better ones for gemminess that came out of this find. The piece is in great shape overall with only a few rough spots, and would make a nice addition to any Bolivian suite or miniature collection. Priced at $500.
