Item Description
Bolivia has probably produced more tin than any other country in the world. The great tin mines at Viloco (sometimes called Araca) have produced some of the most magnificent cassiterite specimens extant. This particular specimen is dominated by a large, 2.9 cm, splendent, jet-black, cyclic-twinned crystal with smaller crystals nearby. This is a very attractive piece and one of the better ones for quality, luster and crystal size that I have seen in recent years. The piece is in great shape, the big crystal is pristine and trivial edgewear to a couple of the smaller crystals is barely noticeable. It is an excellent display specimen. This classic material from Viloco is simply not seen for sale in today"s market. Ex Jesse Fisher and Joan Kureczka Collection.
