Cassiterite (excellent twin)

Pegmatitic Cassiterite specimens are not terribly common on the market, and fine quality crystallized display pieces like this are few and far between. This piece features a great, sharp, classic, lustrous, very well-formed, jet-black twinned crystal measuring 3.3 cm long sitting atop pyramidal un-twinned Cassiterite crystal matrix. The piece is in good shape, but not damage-free, as there is a bit of roughness in some spots. It's still an impressive and showy specimen, better than most you'll see from the locality in terms of size, quality, aesthetics and displayability. Former Brian Kosnar specimen, valued $2,500.
