Item Description
Bolivia has probably produced more tin than any other country in the world. The great tin mines at Viloco (sometimes called Araca) have produced some of the most magnificent Cassiterite specimens extant. This piece features a predominant, sharp, highly lustrous, black color (with a slight golden color near the edges when backlit), cyclic twinned Cassiterite crystal measuring 2.9 cm across associated with smaller Cassiterite twins, and minor Quartz crystals on the reverse side of the piece. The piece has a "flower"-like shape, and displays beautifully. This specimen was actually mined about 20 years ago when Viloco was really pumping out specimens! This is a very attractive piece and one of the best ones for quality, luster and crystal size that we've offered. The piece is in great shape, and most crystals are damage free. An excellent overall display piece with superb aesthetics. This classic material from Viloco is simply not seen for sale in today's market. Valued at $1750 retail.
