Item Description
A classic old time specimen of the famous Cassiterites from the historic locality at Horni Slavkov (formerly Schlaggenwald), featuring the classic cyclic twinned crystals with their narrow "helmet"-shaped form along with jet black exterior and fine adamantine luster. The largeset Cassiterite measures 1.3 cm long. Most of the crystals are in good shape, but there are some contacts around the edges. Please note that the piece has a few saw marks on the matrix, to allow it to display without the aid of a base or clay. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9999) with a beautiful old hand-written label from the collection of K. Saxlehner of Budapest. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive old-timer from this famous locale.
