Item Description
Cassiterites from Huanuni are not easy to obtain. The mine at Huanuni is one of the largest tin mines in Bolivia and is a real sight to see. This mine is better known for its phosphate species, but some of the more unique and attractive Cassiterite specimens are found there. This specimen comprises several fine quality, sharp, lustrous, black prismatic tetragonal crystals forming "drillbit" twins measuring up to 1.5 cm. Good quality for the most part, despite a bit of roughness around the periphery. We obtained this piece from an old East Coast collection and it is one of the better pieces from that we've had to offer from Huanuni. The piece comes with a label from noted New York mineral dealer, Larry Conklin. Don't miss out on this attractive and hard to find specimen. Valued at $900.
