Item Description

A cool locality piece labeled as coming from "New England" in New South Wales, Australia, and we suspected this is not correct.  Thank you to Roland Goodgame for reaching out and letting us know this piece is from Elsmore. This attractive miniature display specimen features several fine quality, sharp, well-formed, lustrous nearly black (very dark reddish-brown in spots) cyclic twinned crystals of Cassiterite measuring up to 1.6 cm sitting atop sparkling reddish-golden colored Muscovite matrix. Very good condition all around, with only a few small rough spots that I found. Beautiful material and some of the best crystallized Cassiterite from any world locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12956). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecor... ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017. The piece is accompanied by a label from the collection of Ernest W. Chapman.
