Item Description

Bolivia has probably produced more tin than any other country in the world. The great tin mines at Viloco (sometimes called Araca) have produced some of the most magnificent Cassiterite specimens extant. This particular specimen hosts many excellent, sharp, highly lustrous, color cyclic twinned crystals with minor Quartz on matrix. The color is mostly black, but when backlit, some of the edges show a coffee color, or a golden-brown hue. The size, luster and form of the Cassiterite is great for the material. The largest crystal measures 3.0 cm at its widest dimension. Very little damage on the display side, and it's so much more showy than the majority of Cassiterites from this mine. These classic specimens from Viloco are simply not seen for sale in today's market very often, especially with such sharp and lustrous crystals like this. Valued at $1800. Classic material and overall a very showy specimen with virtually no damage.
