Item Description

Found in August of 2012. Bolivia has probably produced more tin than any other country in the world. The great tin mines at Viloco (sometimes called Araca) have produced some of the most magnificent Cassiterite specimens extant. This particular specimen consists of a few fine, sharp, rather lustrous, slightly gemmy, black (brown when backlit) cyclic twinned crystals of Cassiterite on Quartz on matrix. The largest group measures 7 mm across. This is a very attractive piece and one of the better ones for quality and luster that came out of this recent find. The piece is in great shape overall, and would make a nice addition to any Bolivian suite or small cabinet collection.
