Item Description

Bolivia has probably produced more tin than any other country in the world. The great tin mines at Viloco (sometimes called Araca) have produced some of the most magnificent Cassiterite specimens extant. This particular specimen consists of fine, sharp, lustrous, brown/black, very slightly gemmy cyclic twinned crystals, forming a nice thumbnail sized specimen. This is a very attractive piece and one of the better ones for quality that we've offered in recent months. The largest twin measures 1.2 cm across. The piece is in great shape overall, with just a few tiny nicks here and there, and would make a nice addition to any Bolivian suite or thumbnail collection.
