Item Description
In the past, until some of the the Chinese occurrences, the world's gemmiest Cassiterite crystals have come from Viloco and these have historically set the standard. However, specimens of this quality are now very scarce in the mineral market. This particular specimen is a cluster of at least a dozen, lustrous, gemmy, brownish to smoky hued Cassiterite crystals to 2.2 cm. All of the big crystals are concentrated in a line right down the middle of the piece. They all have exceptional luster, are lightly striated on select faces. and several exhibit the mineral's classic twinning. A superb old specimen with minor damage at the periphery and some contacting on the edge of the display face. Still, a beautiful and large classic example of old Bolivian material.
