Item Description
Before the big discovery of Carrollite specimens in the late 1990s, there were not many examples of this rare copper, cobalt, nickel sulfide on the market. But as soon as these pieces hit the market, they were instantly recognized as the best of species ever found. The largest, sharpest, most impressive crystals came from the Kamoya South II Mine. This particular features hosts a few sharp, well-formed, very lustrous, silvery color, cuboctahedral crystals (some with slight tetrahexahedral modifications) of Carrollite measuring up to 1.1 cm across associated with grey-white rhombic Calcite on matrix. Crystals of Carrollite on matrix are certainly much harder to find in nature, as most examples you'll see are loose single. The crystals on this specimen are in good shape, but some are contacted, so it's not 100% pristine. These pieces seemed to have dried up quickly, and I don't know if more will be found. A great opportunity to snag to nice matrix specimen of Carrollite for a great price.
