Carrollite (fine crystal) on Calcite

Item Description

A beautiful example of the classic Carrollites from DR Congo, specifically from the Kamoto Principal Mine, which is a less common locality for the species. This toenail sized piece features a wonderful, very sharp, well-formed, highly lustrous (splendent), metallic, silvery cuboctahedral crystal of this rare copper cobalt sulfide measuring 1.1 cm, beautiful sitting in the center of Calcite matrix with minor golden metallic Chalcopyrite. VERY minor imperfections can be seen, but the piece is so wonderfully presentable and it sits beautifully on its own without a base or clay. Valued $1,500.
