Item Description

A striking, sharp, splendent silver-metallic, 1.0 cm, isometric carrollite crystal with striated faces is very aesthetically set on the sculptural blocky vuggy calcite cleaveage matrix accented with pretty hints of pink. Nearby rounded matte-gray bornite is a RARE accessory and the broken sections of bright, brassy chalcopyrite crystals are a typical and stark contrast. The sharp form of the pristine crystal is remarkable and the superb luster is characteristic of this rare Cu-Co-Ni sulfosalt. Matrix carrollites are far less common, and the quality of this one is exceptional. It has two fine display views. Ex Francesco Bedogne Collection # 1597. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector. Read his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=118. Here is your chance to obtain an outstanding and RARE matrix carrollite combination at a very reasonable price point.
