Item Description

The rare copper, cobalt and nickel sulfide Carrollite is one of those species that has been known for years, but it was only in the last 20+ years that the finest examples of the species have been found. For many years, it was incredibly difficult to find a crystal over a few mm, but when the big crystals started coming out in the late 1990s, it changed the game. The best of these piece represent the finest examples of the species ever seen. This specimen features a good quality, sharp, lustrous, splendent, bright silvery colored cuboctahedral crystal measuring 2.7 cm with minor accenting Carrollite at the base, and a bit of iron-stained Calcite wedged in between. The faces are well-formed and smooth on the front of the main crystals, but it's contacted on the back where it was detached from the pocket wall. As mentioned, these are not only the largest, but the finest Carrollite crystals from anywhere in the world.
