Item Description

Carrollite is a rare cobalt copper sulfide mineral, and for a long time is was only found in small crystals (less than 1 cm). Then in the late 1990s, we started to see these amazing examples from DR Congo, which were immediately recognized as the finest examples of the species ever found. The best crystals from the Kamoya South II Mine are unquestionable the largest, sharpest, most impressive Carrollites extant. The piece is a good sized, sharp, well-formed, lustrous / splendent, metallic, bright silvery colored modified cuboctahedral crystal free of matrix. An impressive piece with brilliant, euhedral faces. I can see a few tiny imperfections on the display side, so it's not pristine, but this is forgivable in my mind based upon the impressive size and caliber of the crystal. even though it's not fully formed on the bottom, it IS at least in part crystallized, so it's actually close to being a "floater". These pieces seemed to have dried up, and I don't know if more will be found. A great opportunity to snag to big specimen of Carrollite for a great price. Valued $2,500.
