Item Description

This is a lovely and hard to find specimen of this incredibly rare organic compound species. The entry on mindat.org states that this Carpathite is chemically identical to Coronene, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH), but this is a naturally occurring specimen. This piece features bright canary yellow crystals measuring up to 6 cm sitting on crystalline Quartz matrix with minor reddish Cinnabar mixed into the matrix. Very impressive for the overall size and presentation of the piece, plus the fact that there are only a few places in the world in which Carpathite is found. The crystals show a lovely bright blue-white fluorescence under UV light.
