Item Description
Carpathite is an organic hydrocarbon - a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH), - formerly referred to as Coronene, Karpatite or Pendletonite. The chemical formula is C24H12. This piece is from arguably the best known locality for Carpathite, the Picacho Mine (Los Picachos), which is a former Mercury producer. This piece features gorgeous, prismatic, bright yellow monoclinic crystals of Carpathite measuring up to 1.6 cm matrix. The Carpathite shows a GORGEOUS bright blue fluorescence under both SW and LW UV light. This piece was collected by Rick Kennedy.
