Item Description
Carminite, an uncommon lead arsenate, is infrequently found at Tsumeb in such abundance as we have in this miniature. Usually in small micro-sprays, the acicular crystals here form a rich, 2-3 mm layer that extends across one side of the matrix. The crystals are lustrous, well-formed, and carmine-red, naturally. Significant in and of itself, the Carminite is also completely blanketed by a layer of the rare, lead copper arsenate GARTRELLITE. The Gartrellite is deep green and almost floral in appearance, and the combination of these two arsenates is indicative of Tsumeb. Such quality in this pairing makes this a highly desirable rarity.
