Item Description

Cannizzarite is an extremely rare lead, bismuth sulfosalt found in volcanic fumaroles and in sulfide veinlets in greisen matrix. Splendent, silver-metallic, crystal lathes to perhaps 2 mm are festooned on one face of the volcanic rock. This location has also given us rheniite, and is a very important occurrence for rare metallic species formed from the volcanic vents here. Collected in the Summer of 2003, according to one label. Analyzed and from the inventory of Josef Vajdak.
