Item Description

Caledonite is a rare lead-copper sulfate and is a signature species from the famous Mammoth Mine. This is an extraordinarily large crystal for the species and locale, at 1.8 cm, jauntily set of the jackstraw matrix of smaller crystals. The luster is high and the color is classic teal-blue. The crystals are partially coated with iron oxides. One end of the crystal is terminated and the other end was contacted against the vug wall. Rare and desirable, old-time material from this noted locality from the University of Arizona.
