Calcite with Stibnite (famous pocket)

Item Description

Textural plate of small metallic silver sprays of Stibnite crystals with a dominating large amber/smoky-colored Calcite crystal that grew over and even included a number of Stibnite crystals. An important piece, one of few survivors from a small find of late 1999/early 2000 (see What's New from Tucson column of May 2000 of Mineralogical Record magazine). The single Calcite crystal measures 5.0 cm wide and 5.2 cm tall. The crystal is complete around with well defined striations on the crystal faces. The Calcite is clear enough to see Stibnite swords frozen within the crystal. The piece has an "industrial" feel or presence to it but still has a raw beauty that is unique. Ex.
